Why you should Never Oppose the Holy Rosary

A serious warning against opposing the Holy Rosary

God Himself has shown His approval of the Rosary through many miracles. Furthermore, the Church has confirmed its value through Papal Bulls that officially endorse this devotion. Despite such clear signs, there are still many who stand against it.

The Error of Those Who Reject the Rosary

Those who oppose the Rosary are often described as freethinkers or as people who scorn religion. They either openly condemn the Rosary or attempt to turn others away from it. According to the text, this opposition is not rooted in truth, but in error.

It is said that such individuals have absorbed a kind of spiritual poison and are influenced by the devil. This is a strong claim, but it is made to emphasize a key point: no one can condemn devotion to the Rosary without also condemning what is most holy in the Catholic faith.

The Holiness Contained in the Rosary

The Rosary is not an empty or meaningless repetition of words. It contains within it the Lord’s Prayer, the Angelic Salutation, and meditation on the mysteries of the life, death, and glory of Jesus Christ and His Holy Mother.

Because of this, to reject the Rosary is to reject these sacred elements. It is to dismiss a devotion that leads directly to contemplation of Christ’s saving work. The Rosary is therefore deeply rooted in the very heart of Christian faith and practice.

Ignorance and Lack of Reflection

Another important point raised is that many who oppose the Rosary do so without understanding it. They do not take the time to reflect on its meaning or its mysteries. As a result, they fall into error and even into a heretical state of mind.

Their rejection is not based on knowledge or careful thought, but on ignorance and pride. This lack of reflection leads them further away from the truth rather than closer to it.

The Importance of the Rosary Confraternity

The teaching also highlights the value of confraternities dedicated to the Rosary. To despise these confraternities is described as falling away from God and from true piety. Christ has said that He is present among those who gather in His name, and the Church has granted many indulgences to such groups.

To reject these confraternities is therefore to reject a powerful means of spiritual growth and grace offered by the Church.

Leading Others Away from the Rosary

A particularly serious warning is given about those who discourage others. To dissuade someone from joining the Rosary Confraternity or from praying the Rosary is described as being an enemy of souls.

This is because the Rosary is a sure means of curing oneself of sin and of embracing a truly Christian life. To turn others away from it is to place obstacles in their path toward holiness and salvation.

The Warning of the Saints

The teaching draws on the authority of the saints to reinforce its message. Saint Bonaventure is quoted as saying that those who neglect Our Lady will perish in their sins: “He who neglects her will die in his sins.”

This raises a serious question. If neglecting devotion has such consequences, what must be the punishment for those who actively oppose it and lead others away from it?

A Call to Faithfulness

The Ninth Rose ultimately calls for a serious examination of one’s attitude toward the Rosary. It urges believers not to mock it, neglect it, or oppose it. It also warns against being influenced by those who scorn it without understanding.

Instead, we are called to remain faithful to this devotion, to understand its mysteries, and to encourage others to embrace it. The Rosary is presented as a powerful source of grace, a safeguard against sin, and a path to holiness.

Conclusion

The message of the Ninth Rose is clear and direct. The Rosary is not merely a devotional practice—it is a means of drawing closer to Christ through meditation on His life and saving work. To oppose it is to oppose something deeply holy.

Therefore, we are encouraged to hold firmly to the Rosary, to defend it, and to promote it. In doing so, we follow a path that leads not only to deeper prayer, but to a closer union with God.
